About the event
This year the our school is actively supporting The Children’s Challenge Cross-Country Relay. The event is being held at the Culden Faw Estate (between Henley & Marlow) on Saturday 13th July. The challenge is for teams of between 2-6 runners to complete the combined distance of either a half marathon (21km) or a full marathon (42km) by undertaking alternate laps of either 1km or 2km. Team members can run solo, in pairs or in any combination they like. This is not a race but a team endurance challenge which is designed to be both testing and hugely rewarding.
The event demonstrates the power of a closely knit team, working hard towards a common goal. All Henley Rugby Club runners will receive a bespoke running T-shirt to make them instantly recognisable as they run alongside children from other local schools and clubs in the area.
The cost of the event is £15, of which £10 will go to Henley Rugby Club. Spectators have free entry with picnics and full family support encouraged. Good music, coffee and ice cream will all be available, contributing to a real festival atmosphere.
The Children’s Challenge is a not-for-profit company that specialises in organising demanding endurance events for children so they may raise money for charity. Essentially, children are encouraged to work hard for the benefit of others. The minimum sponsorship requirement is £25 per runner and this can be for a charity of the runner’s choice. Please see www.thechildrenschallenge.com for further details.
Good luck to all those children taking part in the challenge. It will be a great achievement.
